Anna Paquin is a Canadian as well as a New Zealand actress. Paquin who was born in Wellington but was born and raised in Winnipeg was first seen in the acting world with The Piano. After she responded to an open call for auditions to play the character, she got it in the role of Flora McGrath, the daughter of a mute Scottish piano player who moves into New Zealand in mid-19th-century to get married. The actress was just nine years old and did not have any previous experience as an actor. As a teenager, she moved to America. Paquin had a small part in the role of Jane Eyre's title character while she was just a young girl as part of Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) and she was a leading character in the film Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin played Frankie Addams, a character from Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding in 1997. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad in 1997, she played the Spanish queen in a smaller role. She portrayed teens on the screen in Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (1998), A Walk on the Moon (1998) and Almost Famous (2000). She also portrayed the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa.
